Robert Ingham

Robert Ingham has been making furniture for more than 50 years. Following his training at Loughborough College and Leeds College of Art, Robert initially ran a successful business with his brother George, designing and making one-off and limited edition pieces. More recently he established his own workshop in North Wales, making pieces to commission, and small batches of collectable boxes. Over the course of his career Robert has had a significant impact on British craftsmanship, particularly through his 20-year role as principal of Parnham College, which he helped establish with John Makepeace in 1976.
Parnham was conceived to provide an integrated education for furniture designer-makers, and produced a string of successful graduates, who are now the backbone of the British designer-maker elite. Robert has exhibited in the United States at Pritam & Eames Gallery in New York, and has important pieces in private collections around the world. He showed regularly at Decorative Arts Today at Bonhams, A Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design, Cheltenham, and at the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
