Beauty from Ugliness

For Peter and Cathal finding the essence of an object is a bit like a sculptor finding a horse within a block of marble; it is there, it just requires sensitivity and skill to reveal it. But what if you don’t start with a beautiful block of marble? What if you start with a mass produced and not particularly attractive wooden chair, such as any of those found in their thousands in hotels and conference centres?

Purchasing just such a chair, Peter and Cathal took it through a process of extraction, whittling away excess wood to reveal an inner beauty. Such carving and shaping is similar in process to that which they go through which they go through when shaping the hand-held devices for which they are better known, only here with different tools, on a slightly larger scale.
